before you paddle
- Surfs Down gives forecast-based guidance, not guarantees.
- conditions can change quickly. check the actual sea, wind, tide, local signs, and official notices before entering the water.
- offshore wind, strong gusts, poor visibility, cold water, swell, chop, storms, and pollution can be dangerous even when a forecast looks friendly.
- you are responsible for deciding whether to paddle based on your ability, equipment, local knowledge, and conditions on the day.
- if the app says no, hard nope, or pollution alert, treat that as a clear reason to skip the session.
no guarantees
the app combines weather, marine, daylight, spot, and pollution signals where available. those sources can be delayed, incomplete, wrong, or missing. a good-looking window does not mean conditions are suitable.
where the numbers come from
weather, wave and place data is provided by Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0. Surfs Down combines, converts and scores those results, so our summaries are adaptations and are not Open-Meteo advice
